There are several things that breathing does besides just keep us alive.  Oxygen, when it’s in our bodies does amazing things to help with healing, to remove toxins, and to give us energy.  Taking a breath when we’re stressed or angry will help to diffuse the anger or stress.  It actually gives our brains a break from that feeling because we’re focusing on the basic response and not our activators at the moment.

just-breathe-2smTaking a few minutes to breath each day will help you re-center and focus between the energy, the brain connection and the change in body chemistry.  And as you begin to think more clearly and you refocus, you start to make perhaps better choices, you handle things differently.  Things that would bother you don’t seem to bother you as much as they would have.

 

This can all lead to even more reduced stress if things aren’t bothering you as much and you’re making better decisions that aren’t leading to more stress.

There are different ways to breath, but for some good deep cleansing breaths, try this:

  • Breath deeply in through your nose, slowly enough for a count of 3.
  • Hold for a count of 3.
  • Then exhale and relea2se for a count of 3 pushing out everything.
  • Repeat 2-5 times as needed and then again throughout the day as needed.
